I had the chance to sit in on a very interesting long-term strategy meeting the other day and it got me thinking. The company I was working with is a medium-sized organization with a very strong mission. As the company looks forward 5-10 years from now, they asked everyone in the room a series of questions. One in particular got me thinking:
What do you want your company to be known for?
I personally have a pretty well-defined vision of what I want my business to look like in the future, but this question got me thinking in a different direction. It’s less about what I want or what I envision, but more how do I want other people to perceive the company? What do I want other people to say about the company when they talk about it? And what do I need to do to help get it to that point?
Have you given this any thought before? What do you want your company to be known for?
