This week we’ve been on a roll by turning questions on their head so let’s add one more to round out the week. ¬†When you talk about your company and your products in your marketing, are you telling customers WHAT it is you do or are you telling them WHY you’re doing it?
There’s a distinct difference between the two and the WHY, truthfully, is the far more powerful because it taps into the customers’ emotions. ¬†And if you can tap into and connect with customers emotionally then you go from being a commodity brand – something that customer can easily replace with a similar brand – to a brand they are loyal to. ¬† And as small business owners isn’t that what we’re striving for?
I could go on and on about this as it’s a topic I find fascinating and critical to small business success, but since it’s Friday why don’t you spend six minutes watching this TED Talks video featuring Simon Sinek as he explains the difference and the power behind WHY vs. WHAT.
