If you subscribe to the Small Food Business e-newsletter then you know that just last week I reported on rising food costs in the US.¬† Turns out that limes have been particularly hard hit with a case of limes going from $25 to $125.CBS did a great piece on this over the weekend in case you’re interested.
Regardless of whether or not you use limes in your recipes, this is a great reminder that you need to reevaluate your food costs on an on-going basis to see how potential increases in your ingredients is impacting your costs and, as such, impacting your profits as well.
