Starting on Monday, I’m going to try something new on this site. The first Monday of every month I’m going to share one business tip – something for you to think about or ask yourself – with the goal that the tips will help you as you manage your companies. The idea came to me based on a conversation with an entrepreneur who said that she sometimes finds it hard to focus on the 10,000 foot level view of her company because she’s always so mired in the day-to-day ups and downs. She asked if I’d write down some big picture things she should be thinking about and I thought it was such a good idea it ought to be shared with everyone.
Some of these will be business tips aimed at making you more efficient while others will be questions geared towards making you stop, think, and take stock of where you are and where you want to go. These aren’t all from me either, I’m reaching out to my greater network of business analysts, mentors, investors, marketers etc. to ask them as well so that you’re getting a well-rounded set of questions, thoughts, and ideas to help guide you. And whether you think about that business tip throughout the month or just for 30 seconds before you move onto something else is up to you – there’s no grading or judging here!
Since this is a new feature, I’d love to get your feedback and thoughts on how it’s working. Because one of the great things about being a small business is that we can make changes quickly and if you’re not finding this beneficial then it can always be removed.
