There was a great Op-Ed piece in the Washington Post from renowned author Eric Schlosser of Fast Food Nation and producer of Food, Inc. I’ll let you read it in his own words here. Even though most of the article is focused on agri-business, I believe the same holds true for mass-manufactured vs. handcrafted artisan food. Because someone wants quality food that doesn’t contain artificial preservatives doesn’t make them an elistist foodie. Because someone wants food produced with care rather than off of a factory line doesn’t make them an elistist foodie. We’ve seen time and time again that food made with natural ingredients is better for humans. Wanting to only give you and your family the best is not elistist – it should be a choice everyone can make.
