We’ll start out our look at food business e-commerce platforms by taking a look at Viddlz*, a solution that is uniquely designed for home-based cottage food entrepreneurs.
Started by Zerrick Bynum in 2011, the focus of Viddlz is providing licensed home-bakers with an e-commerce solution that can be integrated with their websites and social media tools. The site has a plethora of features such as having a merchant account built in so that you don’t need to get one and Viddlers (what home bakers on the site are called) can also create promotions or offer custom products to customers.
The one downside to Viddlz is that it currently appears as though the site lacks significant Viddlers outside of the Charlotte, NC area which means that it may not serve as a strong tool by which to drive sales to you as customers browse the site. That being said, like any website, it does take time to get traction and you may find that the pricing makes sense for your home-based business budget.
