Small Food Business FAQs
What Is Small Food Business? Why this site?

Small Food Business, and the smallfoodbiz.com site, is focused on delivery the news, information, and resources that food entrepreneurs and food startups need to become successful.  We truly believe that with this knowledge, and by creating a community of food artisans, we can start to build a stronger food industry from the ground up.

Please note, while this site aims to provide as much information as possible to help you get your business started and keep it growing, Small Food Business cannot and will not provide legal and/or accounting advice at any time.  Those are questions that need to be directed to experts who understand your local laws, tax implications, and your specific financial concerns.

I’m trying to start a food business, what do I need to know?

Unfortunately, there’s no easy answer to this question as much depends on where you’re located and what your local rules and regulations are, what type of food business you’re looking to start (home-based, food truck, catering company, packaged food product, etc.), and where/how you hope to sell your products.  The best advice we can offer is to check out the “Getting Started” pages for more information.

Please note, while this site aims to provide as much information as possible to help you get your business started and keep it growing, Small Food Business cannot and will not provide legal and/or accounting advice at any time.  Those are questions that need to be directed to experts who understand your local laws and your specific financial concerns.
